Welcome Message

Welcome to my blog about Catholic life and family values.
This blog will center around the beauty of Catholicism and how to raise families, evangelize our faith, and fight the ongoing spritual battles that challenge us daily.

You are invited to share your wisdom on these pages with all the readers. Together we will address important life and faith issues and how to enhance our Catholic identity.

Key areas that you will find me addressing regularly will be about important Catholic doctrine and beliefs and how they help us raise strong Catholic Christian families. My hope is that you will learn, enjoy, and be challenged by my posts. You may be informed, amused, or even annoyed, but I hope it will in some way improve your Catholic faith.

Opening Catholic Wounds

Senator Barack Obama just named a Catholic as his VP nominee. Unfortunately, this so-called Catholic, Joe Biden (Delaware), is pro-choice just like John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, etc. It's time to stand up and fight for true Catholic beliefs. Read on in Fidelis...

Compassion...

Last Sunday night I was driving home about 11:15pm after my adoration hour. As I was nearing my last turn home, I saw a sight that has made me pause and reflect for the entire week...

In the darkness I saw an animal slowly moving in the middle of the street. We have lots of raccoons and I was pretty sure that's what it was, but it was moving slower than expected. As I got closer I noticed this raccoon was struggling to drag something.

As you can imagine, driving at 25 mph at night, you don't get too long to catch something. This one is imprinted in my mind.

The raccoon was struggling with all its might to drag off a dead raccoon from the middle of the road. As I passed by my headlights caught the entire scene. This raccoon was risking his own life to drag his "friend" out of the line of fire. My mind flashed to a scene of a soldier dragging a fallen comrade off the battlefield.

As I drove the last few minutes home I kept wondering, "Why did God put me in this place and time top see that?" I don't believe in those types of coincidences especially after an adoration hour.

I don't know what that raccoon would eventually do with his dead comrade. I don't even care. All I know is that this animal risked his life to retrieve his friend. Compassion. OK..I here you. "Dan, animals don't have compassion. They're not human." You didn't see its face. I did and I have a different take.

Are we prepared to risk our lives for our friends? Are we prepared to sacrifice our lives for Christ? Do we have the compassion for our fellow man that leads us to heaven.

The scene I just shared will stay with me always. I haven't been able to shake it. I guess if a raccoon can make that sacrifice for his species, shouldn't I be able to do the same for mine? What about you?

Is There Any Doubt Who Should Be President?

Check out these recent debate responses on the issue of abortion from the two Presidential Candidates. As a Catholic, can there be any choice for us? I don't think so.

Any questions?
