Welcome Message

Welcome to my blog about Catholic life and family values.
This blog will center around the beauty of Catholicism and how to raise families, evangelize our faith, and fight the ongoing spritual battles that challenge us daily.

You are invited to share your wisdom on these pages with all the readers. Together we will address important life and faith issues and how to enhance our Catholic identity.

Key areas that you will find me addressing regularly will be about important Catholic doctrine and beliefs and how they help us raise strong Catholic Christian families. My hope is that you will learn, enjoy, and be challenged by my posts. You may be informed, amused, or even annoyed, but I hope it will in some way improve your Catholic faith.

Bible in a year

I did it! One of my long-standing goals was completed in 2008. I've always wanted to read the entire Bible and somehow seemed to get stuck in the middle of the Old Testament somewhere around Kings or Judges. Last year at this time I made a commitment (I guess you can say a New Year's Resolution). I would read the Bible cover to cover in one year.

I found a web site online that broke out the Bible in easy three to four chapter chunks to read daily. Started on January 1 and ending today. I wasn't perfect but I stayed current and actually finished the great book on Monday while at Perpetual Adoration. I thought that a fitting conclusion.

I can't express to you the joy of not only achieving a lifelong goal but one with such spiritual implications. I now much better understand the New Testament and look forward to studying the entire Bible again with greater awareness.

How about you? Have you ever read the entire Bible? If not, I challenge yo to consider it in 2009. Here is the link I used to help me - http://www.catholicevangelizationweb.org/bible.html

By the way, I have a new "resolution" for 2009. I got out of the habit of blogging in December. Busy times for me with family and work but no excuses. My commitment is to blogging a minimum of twice a week. I hope you will keep me accountable.

Best wishes to you and your family for a joyous new year.

Vivat Jesus,

Dan
